Vancouver Nurses Steering Committee / Workgroup
The main driving force, and current organizers of the Haiti initiatives within Rose are an amazing group of Vancouver nurses – predominantly (but not exclusively) from B.C. Children’s Hospital. They form the working/steering committee, use their vacation time to travel to Haiti to assist/teach, elicit donations of materials and funds. The Rose Charities Canad Board is in awe of their focus, dedication and creativity in helping poor Haiti.

Huge gratitude for early support especially from the Lower Mainland Sikh Community:
Most of the Rose Charities involvement to this day has been made possible by the wonderful donation of several Sikh Temples of the Punjabi Community in the Vancouver lower Mainland. The organizers of Rose Charities continue in their gratitude to these enormously generous donors as well as others who kindly donated. Of special mention is Dr Pargat Singh Bhurji who both elicited
considerable donations, as well as generously giving his own time and expertise to travel to Haiti to for post earthquake (Jan 1010) pediatric relief. These wonderful groups and individuals have enabled Rose Charities to carry out emergency relief, nursing training, emergency cholera assistance and have a presence in Haiti to work with partners AMDA Canada, AMDA International and Health Frontiers to extend assistance to other areas. It is a Rose Charities policy wherever possible not to simply carry out emergency relief on a temporary basis, but to stay and rebuild for the long term and this policy has been applied to Haiti with continuing programs mainly to help re-establish medical / health facilities for the poor (nursing, pediatrics etc) . Rose Charities is run by volunteers with close to zero admin costs. One if the most closely held principles of the organization is cost effectiveness and transparency. We try to make sure every donated dollar, remains a dollar right to its destination..
